Finishing Up

Well. I apologize for taking so long to post anything. I don't have any pictures to share with y'all today (thanks to technical difficulties).

It's been one week since Shiplet and I arrived in New York City after picking up our good friends Janette and Kara in D.C. We had a nice hotdog dinner at Rob's house in Middletown, N.J before the Georges drove us to the dock to board our ferry into the city.

Meeting up with Rob and Doobin was strange after being on so much of the trip with them. They have real jobs now in New York City, with a great apt. and an excellent roommate (the one and only Bridget Donovan). The five of us (Davis (me), Shiplet, Doobin, Rob, Kara and Janette) had a great time in the city, going to Parks checking out museums and going out at night.

I met up with my longtime friend Katie Harrell for lunch during our second full day in the city and then we rendezvoused with the rest of the group, ate dinner in a seedy park in ChinaTown (which was not nearly as cool as the one in San Fran) and then went out to a bar I've been to at least twice but can't remember the name or location. Bad blogging I know.

It's hard to keep writing about this trip as I now sit in the Elrod Commons of Washington and Lee University. I am now living in Lexington with younger guys from school and commuting to my job at Fleet Feet Sports in Roanoke until I can find a place to live down there.

I haven't gotten any teaching job offers yet but the search continues. I apologize for the JV nature of this post, I haven't had internet in quite some time and now that I can write all I want to say is how amazing of a time that month June 2011 really was and how it will stay with me for the rest of my life.
When Rob described the trip to some of his new co-workers they asked him, "Didn't you ever get sick of those guys, being in the car all the time, etc...." Rob replied "No, not really". We didn't get tired of each other because there ain't nothin' that can buy friendships like the ones that made this road trip possible.

haha, just got stopped by a Professor who had no idea why I was still on campus....

anyhow, thanks to all of you who have kept up with the blog, thanks to our friends who were so excited about our trip. much much thanks to everyone who gave us a place to stay during our travels.

May the road rise to meet you,
May the wind be always at your back,
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
The rains fall soft upon your fields.
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of his hand.

May the God of peace and love be with you always, I know she is...
