Woke up in the most comfortable beds of the trip. Unfortunately, Davis and Rob's bed (yes, they share a bed) was a foot too short due to the fact that it is normally inhabited by a much shorter friend: Kathryn Iwata. Nevertheless, we were well rested and ready for delicious breakfast burritos from Lucky Boy's. We took a ride on the town to purchase the burritos and retrieve the Honda Fit after its oil change.
We said goodbye to the Iwata family and thanked them for being the best hosts we've encountered. They were extremely generous in their hospitality.
We drove down Sunset Blvd. and meandered our way toward the LAX Hilton via Beverly Hills.
We rendezvoused with Mr. Franklin at the hotel and shared a meal at the hotel. We left the hotel at about 4:30PM to experience the joy of Friday afternoon traffic in LA en route to Angels Stadium in Anaheim - the site of the U2 concert. Along the way we spotted an HOV punishment sign that read this...
If you can make sense out of this sign, you are smarter than us.
We finally made it to the Stadium. Upon entering, Davis presented a valid ID to an alcohol saleschild and purchased his first beer of the trip - fittingly, a Guinness. He was, in all likelihood, the only US citizen to use his passport to purchase beer.
Lenny Kravitz impressed us during the opening act. U2 was on the money and delivered a fun show complete with a dazzling light show and emotional song selections. The crowd was perhaps the only let down, but still we had an awesome night. This concert experience really does not have equals. No images can capture the concert in all its wonder but here is an attempt.
We arrived tired back at the hotel to recharge for a long day of travel tomorrow. Mr. Franklin and Davis will haul back to San Fran, while Doobin and Rob will board planes to return home to NJ. All told, their leg of the journey has been better than they could have ever imagined.
Peace and love,
The Three Dudes
